Mel Gibon’s New Girlfriend

I thought Mel Gibson couldn’t seem like anymore of a tool to me after his DUI arrest and subsequent ranting about women’s body parts and Jews…but he has. His divorce papers were just filed 14 days ago and he’s already steppin’ out on the town with his new girlfriend. Surprise, surprise, surprise, she’s younger than him. Not the usual 24 or 25 you would expect from someone who seems like he is so very clearly going through a midlife crisis…she’s 39. Like I said in the LTK celeb blog, keep an eye out for the sports car and hair plugs.

This is such a midlife crisis in the making.  I’m not sure why, but I was pretty disturbed about him going public so soon.  You never know what goes on behing closed doors, but after 20 plus years of marriage to his wife, you think he’d respect her a little bit more and go public a little later, if not closer to divorce finalization.  What a creep.

Jodie, that’s exactly what I thought! Maybe he thinks his reputation is already so far down the tubes that he couldn’t hurt it anymore? I don’t know, but I was shocked when I saw photos of him hand in hand with his new girlfriend acting as though he wasn’t still married to his wife.

Hmmmm….perhaps he’s just a man of ego who had no choice but to flaunt his appeal after his wife told him he’s no longer worth it?  I think his addictions got out of hand, and he moved on before he became the betrayed victim.  Sad.  What a terrible way to pay a lifetime companion back.  Talk about cheap shots!

I read somewhere that he and his wife have been separated for over 3 years. If that’s the case, then yeah, I don’t really have a problem with him going public now.

HE should have a problem going public, given that he is CATHOLIC.  Mel Gibson reportedly is a Traditional Roman Catholic, who attends Latin Mass.  What he is doing is so wrong on so many levels.  It doesn’t matter how many years he has been separated from his wife, he is still legally married to her.  What’s more, even if he were granted a civil divorce he would still have to have his marriage annulled in order to get re-married in the Catholic Church.  The Church is the competent authority to determine the validity of a marriage. Until the Church has formerly stated the non-validity (annulment), intimate relationships with other persons always add up to adultery.  Of course, that doesn’t seem to matter much to Mel these days.

From what I’ve read, he refused divorce for many years due to his Catholic faith.  He was cheating on her and expected her to stay married because of their vows.  Finally, apparently, she had enough. 

I still think it’s wrong, but only on the level that it appears she hasn’t really moved on- seperated for years or not.  She is still representing the family with class and dignity until it is over. He should do the same. It’s my guess that this is very painful, if not humiliating, for her.

Yeah, that is sad. I agree—if you’re going to talk the talk, then walk the walk. I don’t generally care for hypocrites.

I indeed agree he is undergoing some sort of midlife crisis, but the sad fact is he is a celebrity and everybody is watching every move he makes that’s what makes him different from other men who suffered from it.

God hates hypocrites too, Heather.  I think you nailed it on the head.  What a shame, especially for the Gibson’s youngest son, who I think is about 10 or 11.  He now has to deal with conflicting messages of what his dad preaches and what he actually practices.  Actions speak louder than words, and from what I can see, Gibson is making his wife and kids pay for his mistakes.  Making a mockery of marriage is one thing, but scandalizing an innocent child in the process is taking it to a whole new level.

According to TMZ (that bastion of reliable reporting and ethical news gathering):

“We’ve learned Mel Gibson’s girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, is pregnant with his child.

Our sources say Gibson has already told his estranged wife, Robyn, and their children about the news. We’re told Oksana is in her second trimester.”

That might explain why Robyn filed for divorce.

No words.  Seriously, what more could be said at this point.  I am shocked that Gibson took his private plane to a Bishop’s conference in St. Louis and asked them to pray for him.  At what point is a person beyond salvation?  I think to be forgiven you must show remorse and want to repent.  I don’t know Mel Gibson, but it doesn’t appear that he feels very contrite about his actions.

I agree with so much of what has been said here. Looks like Mel is going through a mid-life crisis, but the more we hear, I’d say this has been going on for some time. It’s easy to fall in love with celebs that play roles we like, but when their real life veers far from that it raises a question or two.

In Mel’s case when he made the “Passion of Christ”, I personally felt like he was in it for the money, but I didn’t say that much because of all my friends oooing and ahhhhing over what a great guy he was. I wonder if they talked to his wife if she would agree.

Him stepping out with his girlfriend is a perfect example of the fact that actions speak louder than words. I don’t care if you go to a bishop to ask for prayer, say 100 rosaries or whatever “penance” you think a person deserves…if they aren’t repenting—turning away from their own way and back to God’s ways” then they continue in their sin. You can call it by other names, but if you are a Catholic, in this case it isn’t called mid-life Crisis, it is called sin.

Have you all heard that his girlfriend is pregnant and due in fall 2009? This makes 8 kids for Mel. He has 7 with his soon to be ex-wife Robin. Yeah, I also read they were separated for 3 years before divorcing, but still, I think out of respect for his nearly 30 year marriage, he could have waited until the divorce was final before showing off his pregnant girlfriend.

I think it’s sad. I hope that things work out for all the kids involved.
