Do You Think Jessica Simpson is Fat?

I can’t believe all the press coverage Jessica Simpson is getting regarding her “new” body.  She apparently went from a size 2 to a size 8 and much has been made of recent pics of her taken at a concert/chili cook-off, which show her prancing around in high waisted jeans, an oversized belt and a tank top.  Dozens of other celebs have come to her defense saying the media should leave her alone.  What do you make of this latest “fat bashing” brouhaha?

Obviously she’s gained weight - is she unhealthy? She looks heavier, but I wouldn’t call her fat. My gripe is that she is wearing the absolute worst clothes - that outfit with the high waisted jeans and double belt was awful! And then she sang at another concert wearing leather pants. I think it’s okay that she’s curvier than days past, but she could wear less cheesy/more flattering clothes, don’tcha think?

Ugh, the obsession with American women being rail thin is so annoying. Jessica Simpson doesn’t look fat at all to me. Women are supposed to have soft curves and not sharp angles created by jutting shoulder blades and protruding hip bones…how is that attractive? Thin is fine, but being fit is even better. It definitely does look like Jessica has put on weight, but not to a point where the media should be making as big a deal about it as they are. Remember when the media railroaded Jennifer Love Hewitt in a similar way? And that lady is a size 6 and not at all fat either. Oh, and I agree about Simpson’s awful clothing choices. Hideous.

Of course I don’t think she’s fat, but she doesn’t look comfortable in her skin either.  To me, that outfit was meant to flatter but failed miserably.  High waisted pants on shorter figures are supposed to elogonate the legs.  I think she wore the tight tank to show off her chest, and my guess is the wide belt was “supposed” to hide any spillage of her waistline while creating an hourglass shape.  It is my guess she tried to hide her shape and actually drew attention to it.  She needs dresses and a looser fit to flatter her newfound curves.

I couldn’t agree more.  You’re right Jodie, if it were not for the outfit she probably would not have been thrown to the wolves.  She has a great chest that could offset her mid-section, but on that particular day she could have used a better bra to help create an hourglass shape.  Not that I’m a fashion expert, but honestly, who let her go out on stage in that outfit?  Surely she must have a stylist… or maybe not anymore…

Did you hear the latest?  Jessica’s parents are blaming her stylist and bad camera angles for people thinking that she has packed on the pounds.  Her dad told US Magazine that Jessica hasn’t gained much weight at all and that the entire brouhaha is a result of ill fitting pants and a photographer who shot up instead of at stage level. I do think camera angles make a big difference in how you appear, but going from a size 2 to a size 8 is also going to be noticeable regardless of the camera angle.

A friend of mine just saw Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo in person last week when they were in Madison, WI.  Jessica was opening for Rascal Flatts at the Kohl Center and she and Tony hit a local bar with the rest of the band after the concert.  My friend said Jessica looked great.  She wasn’t wearing a revealing outfit, but according to my friend, she didn’t look as fat as she did in the pictures that were splashed over the Internet and in various magazines.  I also heard that she and Tony were all over each other, so apparently he could care less how much she weighs.

My brother- in-law saw Jessica around Christmas when she was signing perfume bottles at an L.A. department store.  He was shocked when he saw her.

Mind you, he is not a fan of hers, nor did he ever think she was that pretty, but after seeing her in person- he said that girl is drop dead gorgeous.  Very short, petite, curvy, with beautiful hair and a sweet smile.  I would bet, in person, those few pounds are barely noticeable.

I doubt that Tony Romo would date “a big fat pig.”  I think the media hype is outrageous.  The recent shots of Jessica taken on Valentine’s Day show off skinny legs and just one chin.  Unlike the concert shots taken at an angle that made it look like she had three chins and a bulging tummy.  I’m going to go with my pal and Jodie’s brother-in-law and chock up the bad press to paps getting a bad angle and the press going hog wild that she appeared to look like a “pig.”

I honestly don’t know how celebrities like Simpson can take all the criticism. Sure, criticize Simpson’s music because that’s her profession or even criticize the way she dresses because it’s all a part of her image, but calling her a “pig” is just so beyond mean. I mean, it kills me that the average woman in the U.S. is a size 12 and everyone is up in arms about how the super-skinny model look celebrities project is unhealthy and impossible for anyone to live up to and Jessica Simpson, who is still thin, gets completely crucified for not weighing 80 pounds. I mean, I think Simpson looks far healthier than the latest pics of Angelina Jolie who looks like she weighs about 80 pounds.

Actually, each time I look at Angelina Jolie now I think of Nadya Suleman or Octo-Mom as TMZ has dubbed her.  The more I see the side-by-sides run by different media organizations the more I think the two do in fact look alike… in a bizarre and creepy kind of way.  I agree with you Sue Lynn, Angelina looks very thin.  But, I suppose nursing twins will help you drop the weight in no time.  Plus, I think she is naturally skinny, so I can see how she shed the pounds in the amount of time that she did.  Still, not everyone has Angelina’s body type or metabolism.

Yeah, Angelina is naturally thin and I can imagine that nursing twins, working and chasing after her other children would cause any woman to drop weight. I just don’t get Hollywood sometimes though, if Jessica Simpson is “fat” at a size 8, then what is healthy? Angelina Jolies size 00? I’m not sure if that’s her size, but Hollywood can’t seem to decide whether they want to promote a healthy body image or the waifishly think body image. Ugh, it gets on my nerves.

Did you see the latest shots of Jessica Simpson?  She’s wearing her Daisy Dukes again, as well as a tight corset.  Her legs look incredible.  You have to know that she’s not going to lose the muscle she gained in her last movie that quickly.  The granny jeans she was wearing in the photo that set off this brouhaha made her tummy look bigger than normal, but now more than ever, I think the angle is what made her appear “big.”

TMZ just ran some almost nude pics of Jessica shot yesterday in Mexico.  She was sunbathing in a thong and didn’t look fat to me.  However, once her peeps noticed that a camera person was nearby they threw blankets and towels over Jessica, covering all of her exposed parts.  She drew more attention to herself covered like a mummy than she did with her thong.  She didn’t look bad in the thong at all.  I think she should be happy in her skin (whatever size she is) instead of trying to hide and feeding into the rumors that she is fat.

I don’t think that she is fat, though that has not helped shoot down rumors that Jessica is pregnant.  That one is making the rounds again.  Also, word is that she wants to get hitched to her NFL quarterback boy toy Tony Romo, but he is not interested in tying the knot anytime soon.  I would bet that Jessica wants to get married and start having kids now that her baby sister gave birth to son Bronx.
