Lance Armstrong is a professional road racing cyclist for UCI ProTeam Team Astana. For seven consecutive years (1999-2005), he won the Tour de France, five with record-breaking times.
In 1996, he was diagnosed with nonseminomatous testicular cancer, which had also spread to his brain, lungs and abdomen. His prognosis was poor. However, through extensive chemotherapy and alternative medicinal treatments, as well as testicular and brain surgery, he beat the cancer and came out stronger than ever.
Lance Armstrong supposedly retired from racing at the end of the 2005 season, but announced in 2008, that he would return to the cycling circuit just in time for the 2009 season.
