Ty Pennington Arrested, Charged with DUI
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Ty Pennington, the hunky and passionate host of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was charged May 8, 2007 with two counts of misdemeanor drunk driving. This charge follows his arrest three days earlier in Marina Del Ray, California.
Ty's Crime
Pennington, 42, had a blood-alcohol level of .14 percent -- well above California's .08 legal limit. He was released on $5,000 bail and ordered to appear in a Los Angeles court June 4, 2007. If he is found guilty, Pennington, a former carpenter on TLC's Trading Spaces, could spend up to six months in jail.
Remorseful
In a statement released to Access Hollywood, Ty Pennington said, "I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused.”
