Saving The Apprentice

In an announcement expected July 16, 2007, NBC and show producers have agreed to bring back the reality show "for at least one more season," according to Reuters. In May, the network inadvertently left The Apprentice, which concluded its sixth season just one month earlier, out of the fall lineup. At that time, NBC executives said they wouldn't look at the issue until the other TV networks revealed their lineups. Sources close to NBC and The Apprentice told Reuters that the show, which dropped considerably in ratings since it first aired 2004, will be renewed for the seventh season, with an option to renew for one additional.

However, the next installment of The Apprentice will have a slightly different twist -- celebrities will vie against each other in a number of different tasks as a means of raising funds for a variety of charities. The celebs won't escape the boardroom either, as each week, one of them will be fired.

Trump and the Pageant Queens

In June 2007, Trump signed a deal with the cable music television channel to produce Pageant Place, a show that brings reigning and former beauty queens together under one roof. According to Variety, the show is a mix between The Real World and The Apprentice, and will star former Miss USA Tara Conner as the "den mother." Conner was the center of a in 2006 because of her wild and partying lifestyle while reigning as Miss USA. Current pageant winners -- Miss Universe Riyo Mori, Miss USA Rachel Smith and Miss Teen USA Katie Blair -- will take turns having cameras follow them around. Each pageant winner will spend four months in the apartment with Conner. It is expected to air by the end of 2007.
