Before her retirement from professional wrestling on September 17, 2006, Trish Stratus proved to fans from across the world that she’s more than just a pretty face. With signature moves like the Chick Kick and Stratusfaction, Trish held her own with WWE Superstars like The Big Show and Chyna.
The Early Years
Trish Stratus was born Patricia Anne Stratigias on December 18, 1975. Contrary to popular belief, becoming a professional wrestler wasn’t a lifelong ambition for Trish. In fact, she was once enrolled as a pre-med student at York University in Toronto. However, when a faculty labor dispute closed down the school for two months, Trish took a job as a fitness instructor and discovered her new passion.
While Trish was working as a co-host of the Canadian professional wrestling talk show Live Audio Wrestling, she was approached by representatives from the WWE. Within months, she was training at the gym of Ron Hutchinson--the same place that produced superstars like Edge and Christian. Trish made her first appearance in the ring on March 19, 2000.
Accomplishments
Although her career as a professional wrestler lasted just six years, Trish racked up an impressive list of accomplishments during this time:
- She is the first woman in WWE history to have held the WWE Women's Championship seven times. Trish is also a former WWE Hardcore Champion.
- Fans voted Trish "WWE Babe of the Year" three times between 2001 and 2003.
- Trish managed a host of other WWE Superstars, including Kurt Angle, Bubba Ray Dudley, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Test, Val Venis, and Viscera.
