The Early Years

Tobias Vincent Maguire was born June 27, 1975 to Vincent Maguire, a construction worker and cook, and Wendy Brown, a secretary. His parents were young when he was born and split up two years later. He moved around a lot -- from his birthplace of Santa Monica, California, to Washington and Oregon. He dropped out of high school while in the ninth grade to pursue his acting career.

His big break came in 1992, when at the tender age of 17, Maguire landed a role in the television comedy, Great Scott. The series was cancelled after nine weeks. He has four half-brothers, Vincent, Timothy, Jopaul and Weston, and a half-sister, Sara.

Two years later, he reprised his role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2. However, with the anticipated release of Spider-Man 3 in May 2007, Tobey Maguire isn't sure if he will turn in his spiderwebs any time soon. He has said that if he is offered a good script for Spider-Man 4, he will consider it.
