The Generosity of Depp, Law and Farrell
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Okay, so most gossip stories are snarky and sometimes a little funny, but this one is about the generosity of Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell.
Taking Care of Matilda
When actor Heath Ledger unexpectedly died, it's needless to say that not only were the fans of the actor stunned, but so too were many Hollywood actors. One of the saddest, if not the saddest, aspect of the young actor's death is his daughter Matilda, who is currently three years old. At the time of his death, Ledger had not updated his will to include Matilda and the settlement of his estate is currently going through the court system in Australia.
Knowing this, the three actors chosen by director Terry Gilliam to complete Ledger's final role - which was filming at the time of his death - Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell decided to step in.
Finishing Ledger's Work
When Heath Ledger died, he was in the middle of filming The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. The film was put on hold, while director Terry Gilliam decided how he was going to finish out the film without one of its stars. Turns out, he chose Depp, Law and Farrell to complete Ledger's role.
Upon completion of the film, the three actors announced that they would donate their entire paychecks to young Matilda Ledger - doing so out of love and respect for Heath.
The total sum of the donations has not been released, but with those three actors, most people speculate that it's pretty hefty, not that the amount is important. What's important is the act of kindness that these three men, with families of their own to support, have done for this child that will grow up without her dad around. Even the most cynical person has to appreciate that.
