Spencer Pratt Takes On Anderson Cooper

It seems that The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will take any opportunity available to them to generate publicity, even when it makes them look like fools.

Montag, who recently married Pratt and appeared with him on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, appeared during the Miss Universe broadcast last week, performing and dancing to her new single. Apparently Montag is taking a page out of the Paris Hilton book by attempting to make an impression on the musical charts.

Her performance has been widely panned, including a diss from CNN newsman Anderson Cooper.

Cooper, who has no problem saying what's on his mind, said on the air that he had no idea who Heidi was and that she made mistakes with the lyrics to her own song, even while lip-synching. He called the appearance "a fresh new way to embarrass herself," and mocked her for crediting God for her performance. He took a few other digs at Montag, and was done with his segment – or so he thought.

Spencer Pratt, who has always made outrageous claims about himself and his new wife, is firing back at Cooper. According to US Magazine, Pratt has responded that he's thrilled Cooper is adding to their fame.

"It's our pleasure to help out anyone whose ratings are in need," Pratt said. He also added that that Montag's song was the greatest performance in the history of television, and that over a billion people watched. No one needs to contact the Nielsen ratings folks to know that nowhere near a billion people were watching the Miss Universe pageant.
