Even though she's the daughter of Goldie Hawn and stepdad Kurt Russell, Kate Hudson became a bankable Hollywood success without her famous parents. At a young age, Hudson insisted on working her way up from "who's that girl?" to an "it" girl, turning down a role she auditioned for and got, in the film Escape from New York starring Kurt Russell. Hudson wanted to make it on her own and not "be professionally associated" with her dad.
