Even though she's the daughter of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell (technically her stepdad, but considers him to be her "real" dad), Kate Hudson didn't become a bankable Hollywood success by riding success of her famous parents. At a young age, Hudson insisted on working her way up from "who's that girl?" to an "it" girl, turning down a role she auditioned for and got, in the film Escape from New York starring Kurt Russell. When asked why she turned down what many believed could've been her breakout role, she reiterated her feelings of making it on her own and not "wanting to be professionally associated" with her dad.
