Sexy Female Celebrity

From LoveToKnow Celebrity

Nowadays, just about any fashion, entertainment or woman's magazine will have a sexy female celebrity gracing its cover. The superstar's beauty stands out stronger and louder than anything else on the page. But that's why most people buy those publications, right?

Actress Scarlett Johansson is the epitome of a sexy female celebrity.

The Making of a Sexy Female Celebrity

Cher has admitted to having plastic surgery to enhance her looks.

So how do female celebrities become so sexy that young women and girls want to look just like them? It's true, some are born beautiful, but for others, they need a little help. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder - it's not always skin deep. Plastic surgery, extreme diet plans and the marvels of computer technology can turn even the plainest Jane into a sexy superstar.

Celebrities and Plastic Surgery

To get the perfect body in Hollywood, many celebrities sometimes undergo drastic plastic surgery procedures. Facelifts, nose jobs and breast enhancements are just a few of the surgeries some have had done to be deemed sexy. Some female celebrities and their treatments include:

Then there's the female celebrities who go a little overboard to look sexy:

  • Comedienne Joan Rivers, the self-appointed advocate of plastic surgery for older women, says that if a woman can afford to have it done, it is worth if for her self-esteem. It is unknown how many surgeries Rivers has had, but the proof is definitely in the pictures.
  • Actress Farrah Fawcett was the sex symbol of the 1970s, with her swimsuit-clad poster adorning most young men and boy's bedroom walls. Today, Fawcett has admitted to having lip injections, cheek implants, a brow lift, a nose job and eyelid surgery. Even though she's overcome cancer, it looks like she is still trying to regain her Charlie's Angels' image.
  • LaToya Jackson has followed in her brother Michael's footsteps by having so many plastic surgeries performed that it looks almost freaky.

Celebrity Diets

A celebrity diet is a weight-loss plan supposedly used by or recommended by a celebrity to help you lose weight fast and get that sexy body you've always wanted. There are many forms of these diets on the market and they all come with the promise of losing weight fast. The downside to this is that some of the eating plans don't give you a lot of the proper nutrients, therefore leaving you fatigued and weak. Some of the more popular celebrity diets include:

Again, as with plastic surgery, celebrities can go overboard with dieting. Nicole Richie admitted to losing too much weight and checked herself into a rehabilitation program in 2006 to help her gain some of it back. Actress Christina Ricci suffered from anorexia during her teen years, as did actress Justine Bateman and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.

Airbrushed Celebrities

There's still one more way for sexy female celebrities to get perfect bodies without having to lift a finger. Their photographs can be airbrushed, retouched or digitally altered to appear thinner, have clearer skin or basically give them a perfect body. Airbrushing has been around since the 19th century and was used to retouch paintings. Its modern counterpart is called digital alteration or manipulation. Either way you look at it, the subjects in the pictures look different than they do in real life. Some examples of female celebrities whose pictures have been altered, whether they approved it or not, are:

  • Jennifer Aniston's body on the cover of the June 2003 issue of Redbook was supposedly doctored by magazine editors. Aniston says many parts of her were altered in the photo, while Redbook says only her hair length and shirt color were "slightly changed." Whatever they did, the former Friends star looks thinner and taller in the picture.
  • In 2006, when newscaster Katie Couric was set to take over anchoring the CBS Evening News, digitally altered photographs of her were sent out in media packages. The pictures made Couric, who said she didn't consent to the retouching, look about 20 pounds lighter.

Who is the Sexiest?

Jennifer Aniston has had her photographs digitally altered.

In January 2007, Askmen.com released its "Top 99 Most Desirable Women." Readers were asked to look beyond the celebrity's sex appeal and beauty to choose ladies who had characteristics they valued in a potential partner, including ambition, humor, intelligence and charisma. The top 10 women were:

  1. Beyonce
  2. Scarlett Johansson
  3. Jessica Alba
  4. Adriana Lima
  5. Jessica Biel
  6. Alessandra Abrosio
  7. Shakira
  8. Maria Menounos
  9. Angelina Jolie
  10. Elisha Cuthbert

So, who didn't make the list? Readers were also asked to "weed out" some of the "lesser-achieving ladies of the year." Surprisingly for a few, 2007's rejects included Naomi Watts, Reese Witherspoon, Alicia Keys and Britney Spears.

Is This the Right Message?

It's been called the sexualization of girls -- the use of prolific female images in advertising and media to a point where the person's value comes from her sexual appeal and physical attractiveness. This is being said about the media's influence on young girls in today's society. Sexy female celebrities -- whether they realize it or not -- have a profound influence on today's younger generation. Girls as young as eight and nine years old have Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, whose appearances scream "sexy," as role models. Is this the message we want to send to the next generation of women?
