Sanjaya Malakar Hosting American Idol Special
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Sanjaya Malakar knows a thing or two about being on American Idol – despite often being the joke of the reality talent competition, Sanjaya hung on as a finalist, making it to seventh place.
About Sanjaya Malakar
Sanjaya Malakar first graced our television screens on the sixth season of American Idol, where he initially seemed a quiet force in the competition. Malakar quickly became a running joke on the series, however.
Despite Malakar displaying the least talent among the American Idol finalists, fan support (from “Fanjayas”) kept Sanjaya in the running for longer than anyone expected.
Changing Hair Styles
One thing that kept Sanjaya fans coming back for more was his ever-changing hair styles from week to week – whether wavy, straight or worn in a faux hawk, few could dispute that the young singer wasn’t trying his hardest to move up the Idol ranks in the finals.
In the end, Sanjaya’s hair styles couldn’t save him and he was eliminated.
American Idol Special
Gone but not forgotten, Sanjaya Malakar is coming back to the American Idol family to host the special Idol Stars: Where Are They Now. The show, which takes a look at some of the public’s favorite American Idol contestants, will air February 24 at 8 PM on Fox.
The special will include interviews with Kelly Clarkson (season one), Ruben Studdard (season two), Bo Bice (season four), Chris Daughtry (fifth season), as well as Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks (season six).
The special will also check in with other Idol finalists to see what they’re up to.
Sanjaya’s Future
What does the future hold for Sanjaya Malakar? While he didn’t win the title of American Idol, Sanjaya hasn’t given up on his musical career just yet. He’s in the process of writing music and finding a producer for his first album.
