Rosie O'Donnell Leaves The View After One Season
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Yes, Rosie O'Donnell is making headlines again -- not with her remarks, per se, but because she is leaving The View after only one season. Her replacement has not yet been announced.
Did She Quit or was She Fired?
Rosie O'Donnell disclosed April 25, 2007 on the show that contract negotiations with ABC television did not go well. "I wanted one year, they wanted three years," People.com reported. "It just didn't work. And that's showbiz, but it's not sad because I've loved it here and I love you guys and I'm not going away."
However, billionaire Donald Trump, who has been O'Donnell's nemesis for months, told People that ABC fired her. "They couldn't take it anymore," he is reported saying. "Her ratings, frankly, were good during the month of January when she and I were going at it, but they've been falling very steadily ever since."
What Rosie O'Donnell has Said
It's no secret that O'Donnell has had verbal battles with Trump, but with several others as well, including:
- Kelly Ripa was called "homophobic" by O'Donnell for Ripa's comments to singer Clay Aiken.
- The Asian-American community was targeted by O'Donnell after she made a joke that mocked the Chinese language.
- Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was called a "criminal" by the talk show host after he called for her suspension in early April 2007.
And on April 23, 2007, she told some off-color jokes while emceeing the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards luncheon, comments that stunned some of the audience.
