Paula Abdul Breaks Nose in Fall

As if being a judge on American Idol doesn't draw enough attention to Paula Abdul these days -- add a broken nose to the mix.
An Idol Mishap
The former dancing pop singer reportedly tripped over her pet Chihuahua the weekend of May 19, 2007, causing her to fall. Abdul, 44, fractured a toe, tore cartilage in her nose and bruised several areas of her body including her arm, chest and waist.
Paula Abdul, who is known for her quirkiness on the smash reality series, told the television show Extra, "The dog, I saw her ... I just remember saying, 'Oh my God, I'm going to do a face plant,"' she said, adding that the pain was horrible. "I screamed like a little baby would scream." Her dog, Tulip, wasn't injured in the incident.
The Show Must go on
However, thanks to expert makeup artists, her facial and skin injuries were cleverly concealed during the finals of American Idol. Her injuries, though, seemed to have caused her to be a few minutes late for the May 22, 2007 live show, in which she was escorted to her seat by executive producer Nigel Lythgoe , according to People magazine.
No Stranger to Injury
In 2004, Abdul contracted a staph infection reportedly from an unsanitary manicure. This incident left her in a sling and urged her to testify in California for stricter nail salon laws.
