Paris Hilton's Robbery

Given the state of the economy and the fact that many people are out of work, it's difficult to feel sorry for Paris Hilton's robbery.

Everybody living in the Hollywood Hills better take note…invest in a security system. Your community may be gated, but that doesn't mean it's safe from robbers. Just ask Miss Hilton, who came home to find that an estimated $2 million in jewelry and other items were taken from her home.

Well, at least there was video of the person that robbed Hilton's abode, described as wearing gloves and a hooded sweatshirt. Hmmm, not sure how helpful that is, given that it's winter and while it may not be as cold in California as it is in say, the Midwest or out east, gloves and a hooded sweatshirt describes about half of the United States right now.

Given the value of the home and the value of the items within the home, you would think that Paris would have a home security system installed. Not to mention the fact that not too long ago, Paris' sister Nicky's home was robbed to the tune of about $100,000 in jewelry, amongst other items.

Don't worry Paris fans, she isn't letting the robbery get her down and mom Kathy had some words of advice stating "…you can't be possessed by your possessions. Those are just things and I'm happy that she's okay." Yep, with people losing their jobs and homes at a record rate these days, Kathy's words don't make it any easier to feel sorry for Paris Hilton's robbery.

Sure, you shouldn't be possessed by your possessions as the cliché goes, but, if you value the possessions you have, from a $100 wedding band to a cheap DVD player, most of us at least protect our possessions. Why? Because most people work very hard for their money and can't afford to replace them if they get stolen.
