About The Ellen DeGeneres Show
Ellen DeGeneres entered the talk show arena in September 2003. The Ellen DeGeneres Show was successful right out of the gate, as a ratings' winner and an Emmy-nominated daytime show in the first season. The show won four awards the first year, including Best Talk Show. Overall, The Ellen DeGeneres Show has won 15 Emmys, including three for Outstanding Talk Show and two for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
DeGeneres has interviewed her fair share of celebrities and entertaining guests, but has never had Oprah as a guest. The show will air February 22, 2007.
Upcoming Academy Awards
Ellen DeGeneres is also making headlines as the upcoming host of the 79th Academy Awards. With experience from her talk show and the Emmys, she is well-suited for the job. The Academy Awards will air February 25, 2007. This will be her first time hosting the ceremony.
About Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey has been a pioneer among daytime talk show hosts, with the highest-rated talk show in television history. The Oprah Winfrey Show became a national program in September 1986 and catapulted Winfrey’s career. Her show is expected to continue through the 2010–2011 season.
Winfrey’s next project is The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special, where celebrities will be interviewing one another. Look for Julia Roberts to interview George Clooney, Jamie Foxx to ask questions of Sidney Poitier, and Russell Crowe to be interviewed by Nicole Kidman. The ABC television special will air February 22, 2007. Winfrey will also enter the reality series game with two upcoming shows.
