Nicole Richie Seeks Help With Weight
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Nicole Richie’s shrinking weight has been the subject of entertainment news shows, magazine articles and tabloid headlines. While Richie has denied having an eating disorder, she recently made arrangements to get help for her rapid weight loss.
Too Skinny?
Nicole Richie’s weight loss has been such a public experience that she has constantly had to defend herself. People magazine reported that Nicole Richie weighed in at just 90 pounds when she finally decided to get help. Her dad, Lionel Richie, recently told an interviewer for The Calgary Sun that "She was eating, that's not the problem. And I told her I had the same problem back when I was growing up in the business. Mine was stress-related, and so I kind of got the feeling right now that she's very close to her dad in a lot of her stomach activity."
Nicole Richie Gets Much Needed Help
On October 26, Richie finally decided to check into rehab to help her bump the weight back up. Her rep told People that her treatment was not for an eating disorder, rather, "to undergo diagnostic treatment to determine why she's not been putting on any weight." The team of nutritional experts includes doctors and specialists who can assist her in determining the problem and getting her back on track. Richie told People, "I'm focusing on my health right now, and getting the help I need, like anybody else would."
Upcoming Show, Video Put on Hold
While Richie gets the assistance she needs to gain weight, two projects have been put on hold. One is the fifth season of The Simple Life; the other is an upcoming video for dad Lionel Richie’s song, I Call It Love.
