When rumors started circulating that the women's beach volleyball champion was injured and possibly pulling out of the competition, her reps denied it. They gave no further details regarding her injury except that she was being treated and was resting. Early reports speculated that she may have broken her ankle, but as it turns out, she has injured her Achilles tendon.

On Monday afternoon, Treanor's reps confirmed that the gold medalist is, in fact, pulling out of the competition.

Sad News for DWTS and Volleyball Fans

Everyone on the show has expressed their sadness and concern for Misty May, but volleyball fans have yet to speak out about the potentially career threatening injury. Achilles injuries have sidelined many athletes in the past. Fans will just have to wait and see, as the extent of her injury has not yet been revealed.

In an interview, fellow Dancing competitor Brooke Burke stated that everyone was concerned for Misty May and thought she may be having surgery on her Achilles later on in the week.

Finally, no word yet on exactly how the injury occurred, but one has to believe that it has to be hard going from bare feet and sand to high heels and ballroom floors.
