Madonna and Guy Announce Split

Not Unexpected

Rumors of the couple's possible split have been circulating the supermarket tabloids for at least the past year, if not longer. Both Guy and Madge fervently denied such rumors and continued to make appearances together at various red carpet events. Sometimes, the tabloids get it all wrong, but lately it seems, when they are talking about a celebrity couple splitting, they've been spot on.

The Announcement

It was simple and to the point, reading something like the pair had "agreed" to the divorce. Naturally, the statement had to add the whole request to respect the family's privacy during this "difficult" time. Now, if they really and truly want their privacy, they should choose not to lead such public lives. Don't you hate it when the rich and famous complain about privacy? Especially when it's the public that made them so rich and famous in the first place? Pardon the digression, back to the divorce.

The Reasons

According to "insiders," Guy and Madonna had been fighting for quite some time…a lot. As a matter of fact, the word used to describe their arguments was "incessant" - now, that's a lot. Given their chosen professions, the two were separated for long periods of time. This led to more fighting and then the rumors came out about Madge's alleged involvement with A-Rod (who also, coincidentally, is divorcing his wife), which, operating on assumption here, had to have led to more fighting and now has led to divorce court. Madonna has reportedly hired Paul McCartney's former divorce lawyer, Fiona Shackleton.

Speaking of lawyers, Madonna and Guy didn't sign a pre-nup before exchanging "I do's" and her net worth is estimated at around $500 million while Guy is worth, well… considerably less.
