Kris Allen Takes American Idol Trophy

As everyone probably knows by now, Kris Allen took the American Idol trophy from the guy everyone thought was a shoo-in…even Jamie Foxx.

If you missed the show last night, when Ryan Seacrest announced Kris Allen's name, his mouth looked like it literally dropped to the floor. Even Kris expected Adam to win. Everyone else was calling the win for Adam Lambert. Jamie Foxx went on Ellen and even said "Adam will win" and then went on to say "…but Chris sort of swooned me."

It's no secret that Kris Allen isn't the guy that has the "I am the greatest" sort of swagger. Okay, he has it, but just doesn't know he has it. Maybe that's what made Kris so endearing to the nearly 100 million people that voted this year. Adam Lambert, though he was pretty humble, had that swagger. Even Kris knew Adam had it, telling his competitor that he "…deserved to win."

Finally, in one of what may be the most endearing Kris Allen moments, after the show, he turned to his wife and told her how much he looked forward to just being a married couple again. Though being a married 23-year old college student from Arkansas is going to be nothing like being a newly minted recording artist with a million dollar contract. Now how is he going to juggle school, married life and work? At any rate, congrats go out to Kris Allen, the guy who didn't get a bit of airtime during the audition shows only to come out and win it all.
