Her Family
Kirsten Dunst was born on April 30, 1982 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey to Inez and Klaus Dunst. Her father is a German medical services executive from Hamburg and her Norwegian mother once owned an art gallery. She has one younger brother named Christian. Kirsten is a pet lover and owns three cats and a dog.
The Beginning
Kirsten began her career at age three, starring in television commercials. Not long after, she made her way to the big screen. She struck fame at age eleven with her role as Claudia, the young vampire in Interview with a Vampire (1994) based on Anne Rice’s book. The controversial film, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, was a hit. The role of Claudia allowed Kirsten to highlight her acting ability as she played a woman stuck in the body of a vampire child. The role earned her a lot of recognition, including a Golden Globe nomination, the MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance and the Saturn award for Best Young Actress.
Film Career
Kirsten Dunst achieved stardom when she was cast as the sexy Mary Jane Watson in the action blockbuster Spider-Man. The next year, she co-starred in Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts and Julia Stiles. Since then her movie career has jumped on the fast track.
In 2006, Kirsten Dunst starred as the historic French queen in Marie Antoinette.
Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 is Kirsten's latest project. She is back as Mary Jane Watson, opposite Toby Maguire as Spider-Man. They reunite on the big screen on May 4, 2007.
Upcoming Films
Besides Spider-Man 3, Kirsten Dunst has five movies in production:
- American Princess is set in the 1700’s. A young peasant dreams of being a princess. When caught dressing in the royal clothing, she is sent to America where she falls in love. Team Todd is producing American Princess.
- Found in the Streets is about a security guard who finds a wallet. He returns it to the owner, only to find himself caught up in a bi-sexual love triangle.
- Loose Lips features a young woman who signs up for the CIA training program and falls in love with another trainee.
Kirsten is working on two other productions, All Forgotten and another movie which is untitled.
