Kiefer Sutherland Sentenced to 48 Days
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Actor Kiefer Sutherland pleaded no contest to his DUI charge and was sentenced to 48 days in jail.
Sutherland's Driving Past
The 48-day jail sentence is broken down into two parts. The first is a 30 day sentence for driving with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08, the legal driving under the influence limit in the state of California. The second part of his sentence is 18 days for violating the terms of his probation related to his 2004 drinking and driving incident. He is to begin serving his 18-day probation violation sentence on December 21st of this year and has until July 1st, 2008 to complete his 30-day sentence. Sutherland was also convicted in 1993 for alcohol-related reckless driving.
Other Terms of Keifer's Sentencing
Aside from the jail time, the actor is to attend alcohol education classes for 18 months, participate in weekly alcohol therapy sessions for six months and will be on probation for a period of five years. He also faces hefty fines and the loss of his driver's license.
All Systems Go for Jack Bauer
Sutherland's jail sentence will not affect his widely popular alter ego, Jack Bauer. December 21st, the first day Kiefer is to report to jail, is the same day in which 24 shuts down production for its winter break. Even if this wasn't the case, Sutherland has vowed he will do anything necessary, even serve additional jail time, in order to prevent disrupting the show's production as well as the jobs of the show's cast and crew.
