Kenny Chesney Sings About Zellweger Breakup
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Country crooner Kenny Chesney is singing about his breakup with Renee Zellweger on his new album Lucky Old Sun. Interested in what he has to say? Keep reading.
The Relationship
Chesney and Zellweger met at a benefit for the South East Asian tsunami relief in 2005. Shortly after they met, the pair was often spotted in various states of canoodling and in May of the same year, the couple wed in the Caribbean. Whirlwind romance - sounds perfect, right? Of course, these are celebrities and we all know that the result of a match up between whirlwind romance and celebrities isn't usually a long-lasting love affair. The Chesney-Zellweger match up was no different and the two split in December of that same year.
The Song
Chesney claims he began writing the song, titled Way Down Here, in December while awaiting his final annulment papers from Zellweger. Chesney describes himself as "…in a dark place" and that "…nothing could make me happy."
Attempting to find an outlet for his feelings, he flew down to the Caribbean and emoted his heartbreak via song. He has stated his reasoning behind revealing his heartbreak in such a public way (the two did not give many details of their break up at the time of the split or since) was "You can't fall in love that hard and that quickly without it not having some residual effect on you as a person."
The album is set for release on October 21, 2008. If you're a huge Chesney fan, you can pre-order the CD on Amazon.com.
