Katie Price’s Early Life

Born Katie Infield in Brighton, England on May 22, 1978, Katie changed her last name to Price when her mother remarried. Price has an older brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Sophie.

Although Price had many interests, a friend suggested that she pursue modeling. She was quickly discovered by a modeling agency and signed a contract with the London newspaper, The Sun.

Modeling Exposure

Katie Price’s modeling career took off in 1996 when she appeared in The Sun as part of the “Page 3” pictorial. The legendary section of the tabloid features a different girl each day – posing topless. The exposure only boosted her career, and she soon became one of London’s most famous models, known under the pseudonym “Jordan.”

Her contract with the tabloid ended when she had breast implant surgery. The tabloid’s policy was that models could only be natural, so she could no longer be featured. Although The Sun was now history, she was able to move on and pose for Playboy, landing the cover of the September 2002 issue. Overall, she has had three breast augmentation surgeries, increasing her chest from a size A to an FF.

Katie Price (a.k.a. Jordan) is often photographed at nightclubs and has been through many well-publicized relationships. Illnesses, including the removal of a tumor from one of her fingers and complications with pregnancies, have been very public. She has often been likened to the British version of Paris Hilton for her behavior and lifestyle.

The Reality Show Experience

When celebrities start to lose their pizzazz, they often turn to reality shows to increase exposure. Price is no exception. In 2004, she was on the British reality series I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here, which followed the challenges of celebrities stuck in a jungle. She met Peter Andre on the show, an Australian R&B singer. In 2005, they had a child together and married.

Katie Price’s Other Endeavors

Katie Price took her story to the bookshelves in 2004, writing the autobiography Being Jordan about her rise to fame. The book sold 500,000 copies. Her second book, Jordan: A Whole New World, was released in 2006, selling 300,000 copies in the first six weeks.

Price also started a lingerie line and is moving into a singing career. She also announced that the name and image associated with “Jordan” will be retired, but so far no concrete retirement plans have been revealed. Talks of a breast reduction have been heard in the rumor mill, with The Sun newspaper running polls that showed thousands of fans opposed the surgery.
