Jon and Kate Under Investigation

Jon and Kate are under investigation in their home state of Pennsylvania, as a result of a child labor complaint.

Only nine months ago, TLC flew Jon and Kate, their twins, and their sextuplets, to Hawaii so that the couple could renew their wedding vows. Several months later, news and photos of Jon Gosselin out on the town with a "mysterious female" hit the tabloids and celebrity magazines. This was followed by speculation that Kate Gosselin was sleeping with her bodyguard. Both Jon and Kate have denied that they have cheated.

During the Jon and Kate Plus 8 season premiere in May 2009, Jon and Kate both hinted that their marriage may be falling apart. Trust seems to be an issue and both of them appeared sad, angry and tired. The show set ratings records for cable, bringing in over ten million viewers.

Not much is known about the actual complaint or who filed it, but many people close to the family, including Kate's brother and his wife, have expressed concern over the amount of time the children are actually "performing" for the cameras. Indeed, the TLC cameras are running 24/7 in the house, and follow the family everywhere they go.

People Magazine reports that TLC has issued a statement saying that they comply with all governing laws for every one of their shows, including Jon and Kate Plus 8. They are working openly with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor to ensure that regulations are being met.
