Joey Fatone to Host The Singing Bee
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Springboarding off his popularity on Dancing with the Stars, Joey Fatone has been tapped to host the new game show The Singing Bee.
About Joey Fatone
Viewers of the new game show may recognize Fatone as a member of the boy band ‘N Sync. While he seemed to have flown under the radar after the band split, he continued to have a career as an actor, appearing in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and the musicals Rent and Little Shop of Horrors. He burst back into the limelight on the fourth season of the popular dance competition, Dancing with the Stars. While Fatone didn’t win the dance show (he and his partner were runners-up), he did win a lot of fans with his fun and energetic routines.
About The Singing Bee
NBC’s latest entry into the prime time game show market is The Singing Bee, a combination of Name That Tune and karaoke. Joey Fatone will serve as host of the show, debuting July 10, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. Contestants compete by correctly singing the lyrics of popular songs – no easy feat, given the multitude of songs available. NBC Entertainment executive vice president for alternative programming, Craig Plestis, said that Fatone "brings an added burst of energy and a legion of fans with his musical talent and infectious personality."
Game Show Competition
Coincidentally, a similar game show will premiere just one day earlier on FOX, titled Don’t Forget the Lyrics. That show will be hosted by comedian/actor Wayne Brady, who moderated the FOX series Celebrity Duets in 2006. Don’t Forget the Lyrics is almost identical in concept to The Singing Bee, so it will be interesting to see which one comes out a ratings winner.
