Joey Fatone Joins Dancing With the Stars

The third invitation for Joey Fatone to join Dancing With the Stars must have done the trick. The former ‘N Sync band mate is rumored to be joining the upcoming season of the dancefest.

Suddenly realizing that Dancing With the Stars is hugely popular, Joey Fatone said that he decided to sign on for the latest installment. Hey, the exposure didn’t hurt former 98 Degrees’ member Drew Lachey. As you may or may not recall, Lachey won the second season of the series and became a household name. Perhaps Fatone is hoping for the same popularity.

This isn’t the first time that Joey Fatone was asked to compete on Dancing With the Stars. It isn’t even the second time he was asked. It took Fatone three invitations before he would consider the dance competition. At least give him credit for waiting until the third go-around to see how the show would play out. These types of reality competitions can often turn into a circus of B-list celebs clinging to any airtime they can to revive their careers.

Fatone, it appears, is no slouch. His post ‘N Sync career included stints on Broadway in the musicals Rent and Little Shop of Horrors, as well as a small part in the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding. He also hosted the talent competition Fame on NBC in 2003.

This latest entry may have some grumbling since Fatone danced his way into teenagers’ hearts when he performed with ‘N Sync. However, just because he’s got the chops to dance boy-band style doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s cut out for the ballroom circuit.

ABC has yet to confirm the lineup for season four, but the new season is scheduled to air in March.
