Jett Travolta Dies

Jett Travolta, the 16 year old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, has passed away.

John Travolta's family was vacationing in the Bahamas at the time of Jett's death. Preliminary reports state that the couple's oldest child banged his head in the bath tub and although every attempt was made, the young man could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at a Bahamian hospital.

Jett Travolta was reportedly suffering from Kawasaki disease, a disease that affects the lymph nodes, skin and mouth. Though there is no one test to determine whether a person has Kawasaki disease, doctors generally make the diagnosis by evaluating the patient and ruling out other diseases such as the measles and Scarlet fever.

If the disease is caught early, doctors are able to treat patients to a full recovery within days. Left untreated, Kawasaki disease leads to further complications of the heart and cardiovascular system.

Jett Travolta apparently had a history of seizures, but it is not yet known as to whether or not a seizure is what lead him to hit his head in the bathtub.

The Travolta family remains in the Bahamas awaiting the results of Jett's autopsy, which is expected to be completed within the next week. The Travoltas reportedly plan on bringing their son's body back to the States for memorial and funeral services.

Jett Travolta is survived by his parents, John Travolta and Kelly Preston and younger sister Ella.
