Jessica Simpson's New Love

Consummate blonde Jessica Simpson is dating pop singer John Mayer – her first relationship since divorcing husband Nick Lachey. The high profile stars have apparently been acquainted for several years, first meeting at a pre-Grammy party hosted by Clive Davis, but the couple's romantic relationship is new. Jessica has been linked with several other young male stars, but apparently it was only speculation. While neither musician has personally confirmed they are dating, it may be because neither of them can talk. As September 2006 begins, Jessica Simpson has bruised vocal chords and John Mayer is suffering from laryngitis. Hmmm, must make for scintillating pillow talk.
Simpson spoke with People Magazine for their September 1 issue, and one source indicated Jessica is in love with Mayer. She has even let the mellow crooner babysit her maltipoo pooch, Daisy. So, if accounts are to be believed, the duo is getting hot and heavy – or maybe just hot and heavy press.
Either way, we must ask if Jessica's body is John's new wonderland or if Jessica just was looking for a public affair? Mayer, currently touring with Sheryl Crow, was previously linked with Jennifer Love-Hewitt, despite his claims that he doesn't like to date celebrities. Clearly, he chooses his women for their intellectual superiority, and not their popularity.
Meanwhile, Jessica's ex, Nick Lachey, is still openly hanging with his new girlfriend, E.T.'s Vanessa Minnillo. Lachey recently won two Teen Choice Awards, including one for Best Love Song. He wrote the winning What's Left of Me after his split with Simpson.
Who knows what kind of songs this next round of romances will spawn?
