Marilyn Manson, born Brian Warner, is one celebrity that doesn’t shy away from controversy. In fact, he’s managed to build an entire musical career on helping angst-filled teenagers shock their parents. It’s been several years since he last released an album, but Manson has been keeping busy with film projects such as 2005’s House of Wax and the upcoming Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll.

January 7: Nicolas Cage

Even though he’s the nephew of famed director Francis Ford Coppola, Nicolas Cage has made his own mark on Hollywood as both an actor and producer. In 2007, look for Cage to make an appearance as Johnny Blaze in the movie version of the Marvel Comic Ghost Rider.

Like other Capricorns with January celebrity birthdays, Amanda Peet is ambitious, hard-working, and practical. One of the stars of NBC’s hit show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Peet recently married actor/writer David Benioff and is expecting her first child sometime in 2007.

Although she rose to fame playing Rebecca Howe in Cheers, Kirstie Alley is now best known for her constant struggles with her weight. As a celebrity spokesperson for Jenny Craig, Alley motivates women of all ages to take control of their lives and shed excess pounds for good.

Despite his recent professional success, Grey’s Anatomy heartthrob Patrick Dempsey will most likely keep his birthday a low-key family affair. Dempsey’s wife, Jillian Fink, is expecting twin boys in late January. The couple also has a daughter together, Tallulah Fyfe.

January 17: Jim Carrey

Although he’s best known for his roles in slapstick comedies like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask, actor Jim Carrey wants you to know he has a serious side as well. Encouraged by praise for his recent dramatic roles in Man on the Moon and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Carrey’s planning to try his hand at horror with a role in the upcoming thriller The Number 23. The film is scheduled for release in February 2007.

Mariska Hargitay is on top of the world both personally and professionally. In June 2006, she gave birth to her first son. Two months later, she accepted an Emmy for her role as Detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Look for great things from this talented actress in 2007!

January 29: Oprah Winfrey

Talk show host, actress, and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey overcame a childhood filled with poverty and abuse to become one of the most influential women in Hollywood. Now, as she prepares to turn 53, she’s making her mark on reality television with two new shows premiering sometime in 2007. The Big Give will give contestants money to help others and Your Money or Your Life will pair families in crisis with experienced counselors who can help them overcome their personal troubles.

January 31: Justin Timberlake

Although he got his big break as a Mousekeeter and member of the boy band *N Sync, Justin Timberlake now enjoys a successful musical career as a solo artist. His most recent album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, debuted at number one on the Billboard chart in September 2006.
