Ivanka Trump

Early Years

Ivanka Marie Trump was born on October 30, 1981 in New York City. She had a wealthy upbringing as the daughter of multi-millionaire Donald Trump and Ivana Trump. Ivanka has an older brother, Donald Trump Jr., and a younger brother, Eric. She is also the older half-sister of Tiffany Trump, and a much older half-sister to Barron. Barron Trump is Donald’s latest addition, with wife Melania.

Ivanka Trump attended prestigious Choate Rosemary Hall high school in Connecticut and The Chapin School in Manhattan. She has often been quoted as saying that her mother only paid for tuition, and that she started modeling to pay the phone bill and other expenses.

Young Model

At just 16, Ivanka began modeling, and was represented by Elite Model Management. Among her early credits as a model were the 1997 cover of Seventeen magazine, as well as appearances in Vogue, Elle, and Glamour. She also hosted the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant. Her runway model experience included modeling for some of the best designers: Versace, Marc Bouwer, and Thierry Mugler. She also appeared in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger and Sassoon Jeans. Her modeling jobs took her internationally to Paris, Milan, and London. She appeared in British GQ magazine when she was 18. She most recently appeared as the cover model for Stuff magazine, in August 2006.

Higher Education and Business Career

Ivanka Trump attended Georgetown University for two years before transferring to the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in economics in 2004.

Ivanka began her career at The Trump Organization in 2005, working on the real estate development team. The job allows her to provide analysis and development planning, as well as overseeing marketing, construction, operations, sales and leasing.

Television Career

Despite being the daughter of such high-profile parents, Ivanka Trump stayed relatively under the radar in terms of media stories about the young debutante. She did gain some exposure when she appeared in a 2003 documentary called Born Rich, which profiled the experience of children of affluent families. She also was a guest judge on the third season of Project Runway.

Ivanka first appeared on the fifth season of her father’s show, The Apprentice, when Carolyn Kepcher was unable to appear in a number of episodes. Her brother, Donald Jr., appeared in some of the episodes with her. She proved that she could fill Kepcher’s shoes very well, providing commentary in the boardroom that helped her father make firing decisions. After Kepcher was herself fired from the Trump Organization, it was announced that Ivanka Trump would take over on the sixth season of The Apprentice.

Personal Life

Ivanka had dated socialite Bingo Gubelmann, but announced during a January 2006 interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that the two were no longer together. Gubelmann had also produced the HBO documentary Born Rich.

People magazine reported in November 2006 that Ivanka was dating actor Topher Grace.
