Is Idol Swaying Contestant Chris Sligh from his Faith?
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Is another American Idol controversy brewing? Season six hopeful Chris Sligh has hometown fans worried he is straying from his Christian roots. Sligh, 28, from Greenville, South Carolina, is a finalist in the hit Fox television show.
Growing Up Believing
Chris Sligh, whose parents are missionaries, is the music leader at Seacoast Church in Greenville. Fox News reported that while many of his "Fro Patrol" fans are cheering on his weekly song picks, some of his hometown supporters are a bit worried about what American Idol will do for his spiritual journey.
Fox News stated that Cheryl Greene, one of Sligh's vocal instructors, said his song choices shouldn't necessarily reflect the depth of his faith. "Is he going to stand strong by his true Christian morals?" Greene reportedly said. "Christianity is a lifestyle ... and there are things in your life that you do need to stand for." However, the majority of his hometown fans still feel Sligh is keeping true to his faith, since his song choices aren't reflecting a lot of negativity.
