About Heather Mills

Before Dancing with the Stars, Heather Mills made headlines for her high-priced divorce from Paul McCartney. She took on the celebreality show challenge to prove that she could dance despite the absence of the lower part of one leg. She was the first contestant on the celebrity dance competition with a disability.

Viewer Interest

Many speculated that the move to join the highly rated television show was a public relations ploy to take attention off of her pending divorce settlement. Since Mills is not a favorite of the British tabloids, she may have believed that the celebrity dance-off would win her some American fans.

Turns out, viewers were very interested in Mills, but mainly because they were curious to see if her prosthetic leg would break free during a dance performance.

Dancing Skills

Mills proved that she could be a fierce competitor by staying on the show for many weeks before her eventual demise. Despite her artificial limb, she consistently raised the stakes, incorporating complicated moves and even a back flip into one of her dance routines.

Back to England

After her elimination, she was to appear on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and The View, but instead returned to England the day after she was axed from the show. She did squeeze in interviews with Extra and Good Morning America before heading back home, however. Kimmel said of the no-show, “She hates America now. So I hope you're happy with yourself."
