A Man of Action

No, not his 1997 stint as action hero Batman for which, along with his role as carpenter and handyman George Burnett on the 80's series The Facts of Life, he has long since been forgiven (hey, everyone has to start somewhere). Clooney's next action role doesn't involve silly costumes with bat ears or helping Mrs. Garrett deal with four teenaged girls. No, Mr. Clooney is lending his talents to saving the environment. Seriously, is there anything this man can't do?

The Company

Clooney is slated as a member of the executive board of a Swiss energy company that will be dedicated to the research and development of eco-friendly car engines and "other" earth friendly devices that include clean burning hydrogen, fuel cells and the use of solar energy.

The company will be based in the city of Beil, Switzerland and will be chaired by Swiss billionaire Nicolas Hayek, who is also the chairman of the executive board at Swatch Group AG.

The name and launch date of the company have not yet been released.

Clooney's Social Activism

This isn't Mr. Clooney's first endeavor into social and political activism. Check out his other good deeds:

• $1 million to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
• Donated his Oscar swag bag that was auctioned for $45,000 by the United Way to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief.
• $1.5 million, divided between Save the Children, Oxfam and CARE toward the devastating 2004 southeast Asian Tsunami.
• Donated one quarter of the profits from his casino The Ramblas, to the Make Poverty History charity.
• $750,000 to humanitarian relief efforts in Sudan, Africa.
