Where it All Began

George Timothy Clooney was born May 6, 1961 in Lexington, KY. Show business is in his roots. His father was an anchorman in Cincinnati, his aunt is the legendary singer and actress, Rosemary Clooney and his cousin is actor Miguel Ferrer.

The Career

Clooney is remembered for riding his bike to auditions during the early days of his career. His first real role was in the short-lived sitcom E/R., soon after he landed the role of the dreamy handyman next door on the Facts of Life and the micromanaging factory boss on Roseanne. It wasn’t until he landed the starring gig in the drama ER that his career really took off.

His role as Dr Doug Ross on ER made Clooney a household name. It wasn’t long before he began to star in major motion pictures including From Dusk to Dawn, Intolerable Cruelty, 3 Kings, The Perfect Store, Oceans 11 & 12, O’Brother Where Art Thou?, and many others.

In 2006, Clooney was nominated for three Academy Awards. One for Best Supporting Actor in Syriana and the other two for Achievement in Directing and Best Original Screenplay for Good Night and Good Luck. He won for Best Supporting Actor. Clooney’s nominations made history as he became the first person ever to be nominating for acting in one movie and directing in a different movie.

Love Life

Clooney was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. Since then, Clooney has been seen in the company of many women including Lisa Snowden, Teri Hatcher and Krista Allen. Clooney prefers to keep his private life private and remains tight lipped about the women in his life. He claims he'll never marry again.
