Future Uncertain for NBC's The Apprentice

It looks like it may be Donald Trump's turn to be fired. On May 14, 2007, when NBC released its 2007-2008 television lineup, the billionaire real estate tycoon's reality show, The Apprentice, was not included.
Not What it Used to Be
The show, which would be entering its seventh season later this year, has seen a decline in ratings since it first aired in 2004. At one time, The Apprentice ranked in the top 10, but only placed 100th for the 2006-2007 season, which was shot in Los Angeles, California. The location was a first for this 13-episode show, which previously had been filmed in New York City.
The show did feel the absence of two of Trump's sidekicks -- Carolyn Kepcher, who was fired herself last year, and George Ross, who only made occasional appearances. They were replaced with Trump's children, Donald Jr. and Ivanka Trump.
Is it Really the End of The Apprentice?
While NBC hasn't formally canned Donald Trump, executives there have said they will continue talking with him, but won't look at the issue until after all of the TV networks reveal their lineups. The entrepreneur has also stated that he may take his show to another network if it doesn't work out at NBC.
According to Reality TV World, NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly said the network hasn't made a concrete decision yet. "Donald [Trump] still wants to do it, [The Apprentice executive producer] Mark [Burnett] wants to do it," he said. Trump had planned to do additional seasons of his show in Miami, Florida or Chicago, Illinois.

Trump's bad news came on the heels of a wonderful weekend, when he became a first-time grandfather. Kai Madison Trump, daughter of Donald Jr. and wife Vanessa, was born May 12, 2007 in New York. She weighed six pounds, 14 ounces.
