Full Recovery Expected for Barker, DJ AM
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Travis Barker and DJ AM are expected to make a full recovery from the injuries they sustained in a September 19th plane crash.
The Accident
The Learjet 60 that was to take Barker, DJ AM, security guard Charles Still and Barker's longtime friend and business partner "Lil" Chris Baker from South Carolina to California burst into a ball of flames on a South Carolina highway Friday night. The pilots reportedly saw sparks coming from the plane as they were taxing down the runway when they lost control of the aircraft that crossed the highway into an embankment and burst into flames.
Eyewitness reports state that Barker and AM were both on fire as they ran from the wreckage. AM removed his burning shirt and helped put out the flames and remove the clothing that were burning Barker.
The pilot, Sarah Lemmen, co-pilot James Bland, Charles Still and Chris Baker died in the crash.
Preliminary Reports
Both men have second and third degree burns on their bodies, but doctors expect them both to make a full recovery over the next year. Barker suffered burns to the lower half of his body, while DJ AM suffered burns to mostly his hands and face. The two are recovering at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia.
The NTSB has recovered the flight data recorder and have been gathering evidence from the crash site in an attempt to determine the cause of the accident.
