Fantasia's House in Foreclosure

Fantasia's house is in foreclosure…one of them anyway.

Don't fret Fantasia fans, she has another home not far from the one scheduled to go up for auction in January. The stories are mixed as to why the home is being auctioned off to the highest bidder, but if she's keeping up payments on her other home worth nearly $1 million, she isn't in as much financial trouble as it seems.

Fantasia Barrino purchased the Charlotte, North Carolina home for an estimated $1.3 million in March of 2007. Some stories state that she has failed to make the mortgage payments, but the company that made her mortgage loan states that the American Idol winner took out an additional loan to cover her property taxes on the home. It was this smaller $68,000 loan in which she did not keep up the payments for, and that is the reason why the home is in foreclosure.

So, not to get too fiscally intricate, but the company is reportedly selling the house to recoup their financial losses due to Barrino's now defaulted loan. A representative from the company stated publicly that Fantasia has a choice of whether or not she wants the home to go up for auction, but her people have not gotten in contact with them, so this is their only choice.

Barrino recently finished recording a duet with fellow Idol alum Jennifer Hudson. She was also tapped by Oprah herself to play the lead role of Celie in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical The Color Purple, and she also has a new album in the works slated for release in 2009.
