Early Years

Born Eva Jacqueline Longoria on March 15, 1975, Longoria grew up on a ranch in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is the youngest of four sisters, and has often said that she was considered the “ugly duckling” among her siblings. With her dark eyes, dark skin, and dark hair, she was decidedly different from her sisters. Despite her “ugly duckling” status, Longoria went on to be crowned Miss Corpus Christi 1998 while she was attending college.

Longoria attended Texas A&M-Kingsville, where she studied Kinesiology. She was discovered when she traveled to Los Angeles for a talent competition. An agent signed her immediately, and she was successful in landing roles on The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Beverly Hills, 90210 in 2000.

Her largest soap opera role was in 2001, playing Isabella on The Young and the Restless. She stayed on the soap for two years, before going on to starring on the TV show L.A. Dragnet (2003), the film Snitch’d (2003), and the 2004 made-for-TV movie called The Dead Will Tell.

In October 2004, Desperate Housewives debuted, and made Eva Longoria a household name. As sexy model turned wife Gabrielle Solis, her skimpy outfits and indiscretions with the 17-year-old gardener earned her high marks among fans of the new show.

With the show’s popularity, Longoria was thrust into the spotlight. Her appearance at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards in a sexy bathing suit brought even more attention to the diminutive actress.

While Desperate Housewives received much adoration, many felt that Longoria was slighted when she was the only one of the main female characters that was not nominated for the 2005 Emmy Awards. Despite the Emmy snub, Longoria was nominated in 2005 for a Golden Globe award.

Personal Life

Eva Longoria’s first marriage was to General Hospital star Tyler Christopher in 2002. Following her 2004 divorce from the soap star, she was seen in public with ‘N Sync singer JC Chasez. Following that relationship, Longoria started seeing San Antonio Spurs player Tony Parker. Parker proposed to Longoria on November 30, 2006. The couple plan to be married in Paris in the summer of 2007.
