If you haven't already heard, Ellen is the new Paula on American Idol.

Mixed Opinions

After execs announced that comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres would be replacing Paula Abdul as a permanent judge on American Idol, fans of the show began weighing in on the decision. Turns out, though everybody loves Ellen, some aren't so sure how she fits in as a judge on a singing competition. While some people think she would make a great addition to the judges' table, others say her experience, or lack thereof in the music industry, simply do not make the cut.

The Judges' Reactions

Randy Jackson is reportedly looking forward to having Ellen on the show, saying that she will be "…the voice of the people among us." Jackson also said that he believes that the panel of judges has enough musical expertise between he, Simon and Kara that having another judge with experience in the music industry wasn't really necessary.

Kara has also come out in support of Ellen, believing that she will "…bring so much to the show." DioGuardi went on to further state that she's happy to pass her "rookie" crown over to DeGeneres.

Though Simon hasn't officially commented on the addition of DeGeneres, while visiting her talk show in the past, he has told Ellen that he really likes her.

Paula's Reaction

Paula has come out wishing Ellen the best and saying nothing but nice things about the show. This reaction comes as a relief to DeGeneres, who was reportedly worried because she didn't want Abdul to think that she "took" her job.

Ellen is set to make her Idol judge debut for its ninth season in January 2010.
