Drew Carey,49, announced during the July 23, 2007 taping of Late Night With David Letterman that he was tapped to replace Barker. "They approached me right after I did the pilot for Power of 10 and I said no," Carey told Letterman. "A month later they called my agent and said, 'What if we really go after Drew?' We've been negotiating ever since." Carey said he found out 15 minutes before his appearance on Letterman's show that he got the new gig.
The Power of 10 is a CBS prime-time game show set to debut in August 2007. The show is about the contestant who can most accurately predict how Americans respond to polled questions. Winners can receive up to $10 million.
