Diana DeGarmo Joins Singing Competition
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Former American Idol Diana DeGarmo is no stranger to singing competitions. So it’s no surprise that she’s joining the latest celebrity sing-off, Gone Country.
About Diana DeGarmo
Television viewers may recall DeGarmo from the third season of American Idol, where the singer was runner-up to Fantasia Barrino. Since her loss on the reality series, DeGarmo released an album and appeared on Broadway in the musical Hairspray.
Viewers may not have known that American Idol was her second TV singing competition. The petite songstress also was a finalist on America’s Most Talented Kid in 2003.
Gone Country
Gone Country is the latest singing competition, but with a twist. The celebrities competing are already known singers – they will, however, learn the country music genre and be judged on their talent as country crooners. The show is set to premiere in January 2008 on CMT, Country Music Television. Joining DeGarmo are:
- Carnie Wilson
- Maureen McCormick
- Bobby Brown
- Julio Iglesias Jr.
- Dee Snider
- Sisqo
The musicians will move to Nashville, Tennessee and learn the ropes from country music songwriters. The winner of the competition will record and release a country song. Of course, these singers will be challenged by the unknown country music genre… although, Maureen McCormick has the most experience of the “bunch,” having released a country album during her brief singing career.
