David Cook's Brother Dies

David Cook's brother has died after suffering a long battle with brain cancer.

Proceeds from the sale of the gray bracelet on Cook's wrist go to raise money for cancer research

American Idol winner and multi-platinum recording artist David Cook once said he had no plans to even audition for American Idol until his brother Adam insisted he do so. Throughout the competition, Adam was often seen in the crowd cheering his brother on and David has often commented that his brother was his idol. The guitar David used during the competition bore the initials A.C. in honor of his brother.

Adam Cook, 36, was diagnosed with brain cancer over a decade ago and has been battling it ever since. On Sunday, May 3, David announced to over 9,000 people participating, along with himself, in the Race for Hope 5k, that his brother had died.

Cook obviously planned on participating in the event before his brother's health took a negative turn in the beginning of April, at which time David canceled a few upcoming shows to be by his brother's side. Before the race, David stated that he "…couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now" and that he would participate in the race "…every year that they will have me."

Adam Cook passed away as he was receiving chemotherapy treatment for his cancer, that had reportedly spread to his spinal column. Adam Cook is survived by his wife Kendra and their two children.
