David Blaine Hangs Like a Bat
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
David Blaine hangs like a bat in New York and then flies off into the night.
Hanging Upside Down in NYC
You have to admit, most of Blaine's stunts are pretty cool. Hanging out in water, being buried alive, entombed in ice, standing on an 80 foot pole, suspended in a cube in London, holding his breath for 17 minutes and now, hanging upside down for 60 hours suspended above Central Park in New York City. You have to wonder, how does he think of these things? And what kind of permits do you need for such stunts?
The Latest Feat of Magic
Blaine's stunts aren't necessarily magical, just feats of endurance, mixed in with a little bit of crazy. In this latest stunt, he not only hung upside down for two and a half days, but he didn't eat or sleep and urinated via catheter (you know you were wondering) although he did have to stand upright a few times to go potty. Then, in the end, he completed his "dive of death," supposedly plunging to the ground to his possible death. What's so special about that you ask? Well, here's the list of things that can happen to you if you hung upside down for that long, but not to David Blaine of course…because he's magic:
- Stroke
- Blindness
- Breathing problems
- Leg tissue death due to lack of oxygen
- Ruptured blood vessels
- Brain hemorrhaging
The Build Up…The Let Down
So, the "Dive of Death" was basically Blaine leaping off a platform, attached to a harness. This left many people wondering: "Where's the dive? Where's the death?" Sure, he seemingly disappeared, but he was on a harness. What a letdown. We expect more from you, Mr. Blaine. The next time you want to tout a stunt as "death defying," bring your A-Game and make us all, once again, believe in magic.
