After a glimpse into Danny Bonaduce’s personal life on his reality series, it comes as little surprise that he and wife Gretchen Bonaduce are getting a divorce.
About the Couple
Danny Bonaduce, 47, began his career as a child star on The Partridge Family, but he now works as a radio and TV host. Gretchen and Danny have been married for more than 16 years, but as most people know, Danny’s life has been far from charmed. Issues with anger management, substance abuse and infidelity have all been contributing factors to the couple’s rocky marriage.
Breaking Bonaduce
Danny Bonaduce chronicled his marital issues and therapy in the VH1 celebreality series, Breaking Bonaduce. The show was an eye-opening look inside their marriage and how Danny worked through many of his problems. Therapy in front of a viewing audience didn’t seem to cure his demons, however.
About the Divorce
Gretchen Bonaduce filed for divorce on April 17, 2007, citing irreconcilable differences. She hopes to get full custody of their two children, a 12-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. According to Gretchen’s rep, “Gretchen felt it wasn't a great atmosphere to raise the kids."
Danny Bonaduce broke the news during Adam Carolla's radio show, saying, "I don't want a divorce. I'm heartbroken at the prospect of getting a divorce." He also said, "It's been months of `You know, I think we'd be happier apart. I'm not happy, Danny.' But thing is, she has been friendly, and helpful."
