Dancing Judge Len Goodman Treated for Cancer
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Len Goodman is a busy man. He's a judge on the hit reality TV show Dancing With the Stars, as well as the original U.K. program Strictly Come Dancing. Goodman also runs a dance studio in his native England and does promotional work for both television shows.
Prostate Cancer
Recently, Goodman found out that he had prostate cancer, and fit his treatment into his hectic schedule, between tapings of his two celebreality shows.
According to the U.K. based newspaper The Daily Mail, Goodman discovered that he had prostate cancer in March, but rather than seek immediate treatment, he decided to stick around and finish filming the current season of Dancing With the Stars.
Once he returned to England, Goodman had surgery to remove the cancer. He says doctors gave him the option of radiation (chemo), but thought having it removed would be the better choice. He adds that he feels much better now, and is ready to take on a new season of Strictly Come Dancing.
Keeping a Secret
The most surprising part of this story is that Goodman, who didn't want to risk losing one or both of his judging gigs, didn't tell anyone, except close family and friends, about his condition. It's only now that he is recovering from his surgery that he is opening up to the press, and even his network bosses.
Humor and Good Spirits
While he's known as a stickler for detail on Dancing, Goodman has a warm and wonderful sense of humor, and his good spirits are likely part of the reason he's recovered so quickly. He told the Daily Mail, "I was obviously worried at the start. We all worry if we get something like this. You do feel a bit vulnerable, but as long as you come out the other side all right, why worry?"
The new season of Dancing With the Stars begins September 21 on ABC.
