Clay Aiken Comes Out
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Well, for all of us that were wondering when it would happen, the day has come. Clay Aiken has finally come out.
Why the Wait?
To be honest, most people already knew Aiken was gay…or at least suspected. With all the celebrities that are openly gay, it left many wondering "Why all the secrecy?" Well, coming out is a personal issue, but not so private when you're in the spotlight. Aiken did state that he came out to his mom over four years ago, describing the moment as "dark."
Baby Brings Scrutiny
In August 2008, Aiken and Jaymes Foster (sister of David Foster) welcomed a baby boy. Foster and Aiken had worked together on several albums and had been close friends for quite some time before deciding to have a baby together. David Foster later confirmed rumors that his sister and the American Idol alum did not conceive the old-fashioned way but rather, through artificial insemination.
The announcement of the pregnancy and subsequent birth of Parker Foster Aiken caused the media to focus its attention, once again, on whether or not Aiken was gay. Putting the rumors to rest for good, Clay Aiken has finally announced to the public and his droves of "Claynation" fans that, "Yes, I'm gay."
Will There Be a Fan Fallout?
Well, let's hope not, but it's tough to say. According to various surveys, the majority of Aiken's fan base ranges in age from 40-59. Hopefully for Aiken, his fans are mature enough to love him and his music, no matter what his sexuality, because to stop loving his music that they've loved for so many years would be completely archaic.
