Christian Siriano Wins Project Runway
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Christian Siriano has been crowned the next Project Runway winner.
About Christian Siriano
If his name doesn't quite ring a bell, he was the youngest contestant on the Emmy Award winning show hosted by Heidi Klum, now in its sixth season. The often outspoken Siriano peppered many of his sentences with his favorite word…fierce, which later became his trademark, although he is definitely not the first person to use the adjective. Here is a little more about the designer:
- He is from Annapolis, Maryland
- Attended the Baltimore School of the Arts
- Attended Intercontinental University in London
- Showed his collection at London Fashion week in 2005
- Before joining Project Runway he worked as a freelance fashion designer
- Thinks his best feature is his hair
- At 5'7, he considers himself a "pocket gay" because he is "Small enough to fit into a pocket"
Fan Favorite
Sirano, 21, had already been voted as the fan favorite before the finale, winning $10,000. Winning with fans though doesn't always guarantee a win at the end, as fan favorite in Season Three, Michael Knight, won the $10,000 and the adoration of fans, but was beat out by Jeffery Sebelia in the end.
His Project Runway Finale Collection
Going up against seasoned designers Rami Kashou and Jillian Lewis, Christian Siriano maintained a cocky and confident attitude up until the season finale. In the end, Siriano's line that included an evening gown draped in feathers, multiple pairs of skinny pants and a jacket adorned with a high ruffled neckpiece beat out the lines designed by Rami and Jillian. The prize for winning the season was $100,000 to start his own line, a spread in Elle magazine, a 2008 Saturn Astra and an offer to sell his line at bluefly.com.
