Chris Brown Cops a Plea

Chris Brown cops a plea in the felony assault case brought against him after the alleged beating of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

This hearing was to be the long awaited reunion of sorts between Rihanna and Chris Brown. People waited with bated breath to hear Rihanna's side of the story as she has remained pretty tight lipped since the incident that left her bruised and battered. After the judge handed down her sentence and Brown et. al., left the courtroom, she brought Rihanna in to let her know the outcome.

Though the judge thanked Brown for accepting responsibility for his actions (which may be the first time since the whole thing began), she did sentence him to the following:

• Five years probation
• 180 days of community service
• Anti-domestic violence classes
• To stay at least 50-yards away from Rihanna

When the judge brought Rihanna in to the courtroom to inform her of her attacker's sentencing, the judge let Rihanna know that she, too must avoid contact with Brown or risk going to jail.

By pleading guilty to felony assault, Chris Brown avoided a sentence that could have had him in jail for up to four and a half years. This begs the question of whether Brown was truly taking responsibility for his actions or simply trying to avoid jail time.
