Chastity Bono has announced that she plans on undergoing a sex change operation in the near future.

No Surprise?

Many are saying that Chastity Bono changing genders comes as no surprise. What is a shocking, but surprising little detail is that word on the street is that she and her mom Cher were originally shopping around Chastity's long and painful journey to manhood for a reality TV show.

Reality Show? Really?

On the one hand, the show would expose the difficult physical and emotional road many other transgender people have to travel to become the person they always knew they were. On the other hand…the show may be a little bit too much information that the world may just not be ready for. Not to mention, don't you think it would be completely invasive to have cameras following you through such a private journey? Either way, most are happy for Chastity and wish him the best. Yes, that isn't a typo, "him" is how reps are referring to Chastity.

In a recent statement his reps said "…during this long process, he will not be doing any interviews at this time."

GLAAD has spoken up on the news, congratulating Chastity on his brave decision on how going public with it helps by "…advancing discussions about fairness and equality for transgender people."
